WESTRALIAN DIESEL

Westralian Diesel was established by Richard York from the back of his ute. As the sole employee, Richard began contracting to various companies across Western Australia, assisting with mechanical repairs and engine rebuilds for the power generation industry.

As the business grew and the demand for services increased, Westralian Diesel needed premises and additional employees. In January 2008, Richard moved into our first premises in Webster Road, Forrestfield, and employed his first staff member.

By 2012, Westralian Diesel had purchased the Webster Road property and added additional office space. The business hired several more employees, including a dedicated full-time office administrator.

Our long-term vision was always to become a supplier to the mining industry. During 2014, our focus shifted from on-highway trucks to supporting the mining and power generation industries, and we gained our first major mining customer. Our customer portfolio now includes several major mining companies.

Westralian Diesel successfully tendered to repair and supply numerous custom-built generator sets, a project that continues to this day. Other successful tenders included upgrading the Rottnest Island Power Station generators and supplying diesel engine parts to various mining companies.

By 2019, we had outgrown our Webster Road premises, and construction began our new purpose-built facility in Forrestfield. In June 2020, the project was completed, and we made the move into the new premises.

Due to the ever-increasing demand for heavy duty diesel engine overhauls, and in the interest of streamlining our processes, we established our own in-house machining shop, Quantum Diesel Engineering Services. Quantum now employs 7 staff members and has numerous customers outside of Westralian Diesel.

Today, we employee over 25 staff members, delivering the highest quality diesel engine repair services to WA’s mining, power generation, and trucking industries.
